Monday 2nd June marked the start of Volunteers’ Week – a week that is celebrated nationally and shines a light on the kindness, care and dedication the incredible team of around 400 volunteers bring to our Trust. The smooth running of our hospitals would not be possible without their involvement. They generously give their time to help MWL provide excellent care and services.
The volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, offering practical support and a welcoming friendly face to our patients and visitors.
During the week, Rob Cooper, Chief Executive, shared his gratitude and appreciation for our fantastic volunteers by serving up some delicious 'Fish and Chips' celebratory lunches at Ormskirk and Whiston hospitals and gave out certificates to say a huge thank you for their generosity.
Rob said, “Our volunteers play a crucial role in enhancing the experience of our patients, visitors and carers whilst also supporting our staff and the community.
“Volunteers Week gives us a great opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for everything our volunteers do. They truly make a difference across our Trust”.
Volunteering at MWL offers many benefits; it can provide valuable experience in a healthcare setting, making it ideal for anyone considering a career in health and social care, help develop important skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving, while also meeting new people and becoming part of a supportive community.
